CPL (A)

The Commercial Pilot License (CPL) course is carried out on Cessna 150, 172 and 172RG or Piper PA-28/PA-28R aircraft, flying to airports in the Czech Republic and abroad.

Course Objective

CPL license holders may fly for remuneration as pilot in command of any aircraft for which they have a valid rating, in operations other than commercial air transport, or as co-pilot in commercial air transport (i.e., airlines).

Prerequisites

• Minimum of 18 years of age at the time of license issue.
• Medical Certificate Class 1.
• 150 flight hours.
• Having completed a cross-country navigation flight of at least 540 km with a minimum of three legs.
• Having logged at least 20 hours of cross-country time.
• Complex aircraft i.e., those with a variable pitch propeller and retractable landing gear endorsement (recommended)
• Night Qualification

• (ATPL) Theory Course

Course Outline

The CPL course consists of a minimum of 25 hours of dual training, reduced to 15 hours for holders of an instrument rating, and follows a progression similar to that of PPL training, except that a higher standard of aircraft handling, flight planning, and decision making is expected of the candidate. Students not already in posession of an instrument rating also acquire a basic familiarity with instrument flying in (simulated) Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC).

Testing

The skills test, taken with a Czech CAA examiner, is carried out in a complex airplane and consist of circuits, a short navigation flight with an in-flight detour, and a series of simulated emergencies or abnormal situations. You must demonstrate your ability to operate an aircraft in these situations to a commercial standard.
